Obituary : Joe Poglajen Jr.

It is with great sadness and yet joy that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Joe Poglajen Jr., a resident of Camp Verde, Arizona, for the past 14 years.

He passed Monday, September 24 at home with his loved ones by his side. Joe was born February 28, 1936 in Neelyville, Missouri.

At age 13 his family moved to Sunnyslope, Arizona and then to Glendale when he graduated and was an outstanding athlete.

He briefly attended Grand Canyon College on a baseball scholarship, but left to join the Navy.

While in the Navy he was selected to play with the all service baseball team representing the US in the 1956 Olympic Games.

Joe was a man of faith, attended the Assembly of God church, served as a deacon, board member and worked with the Royal Rangers.

Joe worked as lineman and trouble shooter for 37 years with Salt River Project.

He is survived by his wife of 59½ years, Patricia, daughters Pamela Lang (Christopher), Kathleen Curl, (Shaun deceased) and Cyndy Jo Poglajen. Grandchildren, Kelsey Curl, Samuel Curl (Caitlin), Joshua Lang, Jonathan Lang (Natalie), and Jennafer Lang, and one Great Grandson Shaun Patrick Curl. He is also survived by his brother Michael Poglajen (Helen), and his sister Mary Beach (Doug) and their families. He was predeceased by his mother Ruth, father Joe Sr and sister Nellie Ann Shumway-Campbell. Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Alzheimer's Association or Compassus Hospice of Sedona.
