Camp Verde High cross country closed out the season with a top 11 finish and a handful of top-75 runners at sectionals Friday.

At Division IV’s Section III meet at Hidden Cove Golf Course in Holbrook, the Cowboy boys finished 11th out of the 13 teams in the section. The top half of the teams make it to state.

Senior Justin Ritzenthaler led the way for Camp Verde, taking 40th in 19:36.5. Next was senior Sy Hanson, 51st in 20:21.9.

Then sophomore Steven Moore was 64th with a time of 21:20.1 and senior Bryon Mina was 73rd (22:24.1). Freshman Austin Dexter was 77th and sophomore Ruben Tracy 83rd.

The top 25 finishers whose teams did not qualify move on to the state meet.

On the girls side, junior Destiny Elio took 51st, with a time of 26:35.7. Next was senior Raven Pelfrey, 29:30.1 for 64.

Sophomore Guadalupe Herrera was 70th and freshman Jasmine Jones was 71st.
